In addition to performing comprehensive eye exams, our optometrists have the expertise and technology to detect eye diseases 5 to 10 years before symptoms appear. We offer eye exams and early detection of eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye syndrome, all in one place.

An eye exam with your optometrist includes a case history, a photo of the back of the eye (or retina), measurement of intraocular pressure, examination of the visual fields, meibography, screening for eye misalignment, visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision examination, and a general eye health examination. Your optometrist will also evaluate the performance of your current glasses or contact lenses, based on your lifestyle.
If you wish, or if the optometrist deems it necessary, the eye exam may also include a tomography scan. Find out how these tests enable your optometrist to analyze the condition of your eyes in detail and provide you with tailored recommendations to ensure clear vision and optimal visual comfort.
This imaging technique performs a “scan” of the retina, providing a detailed view of essential structures such as the optic nerve and macula. It enables early diagnosis, which is essential for slowing the progression of eye diseases and preserving your vision in the long term.
Meibography is the only technique that can accurately determine the presence of Meibomian gland obstruction. Meibomian gland dysfunction is responsible for 85% of cases of dry eye. The earlier the diagnosis, the simpler the treatment of the glands and management of the symptoms associated with dry eye will be.
As part of your comprehensive eye examination, we offer an assessment of your eye alignment using the innovative Neurolens technology. The Neurolens virtual reality headset objectively measures ocular misalignment and accurately determines the prism profile needed to relieve symptoms such as headaches, screen-related discomfort, eye strain, and light sensitivity.
Did you know that 2 out of 3 patients suffer from eye misalignment without knowing the cause? Symptoms such as headaches, eye strain, and neck pain are often associated with this disorder but are rarely identified as being vision-related.
Thanks to Neurolens technology, it is now possible for your optometrist to detect even the smallest ocular misalignments and offer a therapeutic solution to effectively relieve these symptoms. Discover how a simple test can improve your day-to-day comfort and free you from pain.

A regular eye exam preserves visual health, helps detect serious conditions early like glaucoma, cataracts, AMD or ocular diabetes, and optimizes everyday visual comfort. The exam includes measuring the visual correction, intraocular pressure, retinal condition, Meibomian gland status and ocular alignment.
Regular follow-up detects visual changes before they become problematic and allows corrections to be adapted over time. Eye Am professionals recommend exams for all age groups, since many disorders are silent in their early stages.
The optometrist performs eye exams, diagnoses ocular disorders and prescribes glasses, contact lenses and certain medical treatments. The optician, for their part, adapts, adjusts and advises on frame and corrective lens selection based on each patient’s prescription and needs.
At Eye Am, close collaboration between optometrists and opticians ensures a consistent patient journey: from the medical assessment to frame selection, through functional and aesthetic follow-up for every pair of glasses.
For a healthy adult, an eye exam every two years is recommended. In the presence of diabetes, glaucoma or AMD, an annual exam is advised. Children should be seen at age 3 to screen for visual development disorders.
Eye Am adapts the follow-up frequency to each patient’s situation, taking into account their work environment, lifestyle and evolving visual needs.
The exam includes visual acuity measurement, refraction, intraocular pressure check, retinal imaging, corneal evaluation and screening for conditions like glaucoma, cataracts and AMD. Additional tests for dry eye and ocular alignment may complete the assessment based on the patient’s profile.
Patients receive a comprehensive diagnosis with clear explanations of their visual health status, associated risks based on their profile and the preventive or corrective measures recommended by the optometrist.
The optometric exam allows early screening of ocular and systemic diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis and retinal conditions. Eye Am uses advanced medical imaging to identify anomalies invisible to the naked eye, such as micro-aneurysms or vascular lesions.
Early detection often changes the therapeutic outcome and can prevent irreversible vision loss. That’s why a regular eye exam is considered an essential preventive step for overall health.
Eye Am offers comprehensive optometric assessments, dry eye treatments (IPL, LipiFlow, iLux, photobiomodulation, radiofrequency and PRP), prescription and fitting of glasses and contact lenses, glaucoma, cataract and AMD screening and follow-up, as well as medico-aesthetic care for the eye contour.
The clinic also offers visual ergonomics advice, support for adapting to progressive lenses and specialized follow-up for complex cases, all with a personalized approach across its four locations.
A first eye exam is recommended between ages 3 and 5, before starting school, then annually to screen for visual development disorders that can affect school performance and coordination. Children don’t always complain about vision problems, which makes professional screening particularly important.
Eye Am has child-appropriate tools and a reassuring approach for young patients, with advice for parents on the everyday habits that support good visual health from an early age.
Eye Am offers an integrated care pathway where the eye exam can be accompanied by ocular alignment testing, a dry eye assessment and an analysis of digital habits. Patients receive recommendations on blue light glasses, digital visual hygiene and prevention protocols tailored to their profile.
This comprehensive approach treats visual health as a whole rather than in separate compartments, for optimized comfort both at work and at home.
The retinal scan is based on optical coherence tomography (OCT) and high-resolution fundus photography. It detects early anomalies like micro-aneurysms, AMD, glaucoma, vascular lesions and retinal tumors, often before any visible symptoms appear.
This technology is essential for the annual follow-up of patients at risk of retinal conditions and for refining complex diagnoses. At Eye Am, retinal scanning is an integral part of the comprehensive optometric assessment.
Optometrists recommend limiting continuous screen time, applying the 20-20-20 rule, regularly hydrating the eyes and managing the home environment (humidification, indirect lighting). A diet rich in omega-3s and antioxidants, wearing appropriate glasses and maintaining rigorous eyelid hygiene are also recommended to protect long-term eye health.
These recommendations aim to reduce the risk of ocular conditions, maximize visual performance at work and on screens, and preserve eye comfort at every stage of life.
The eye exam performed at Eye Am can validate the visual acuity required to obtain or renew a driver’s license in Quebec. The optometrist checks distance vision, visual field, color vision and ocular alignment to ensure SAAQ requirements are met.
If a correction is needed, Eye Am’s team can prescribe and adjust the appropriate glasses on-site, with full support for any steps related to the driver’s license process.
