Expertise and technologies

In addition to performing comprehensive eye exams, our optometrists have the necessary expertise and technologies to detect eye diseases 5 to 10 years earlier than any other technology to date. Eye Am offers you in one location the eye examination and early detection of ocular diseases such as glaucoma,  macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome.

Complete eye examinations

An eye examination includes the clinical case history, a picture of the eye fundus (or retina), an intraocular pressure measurement, an examination of the visual fields, a meibography, an examination of the color vision, the visual acuity, a refraction, an examination of binocular vision, and a general eye health examination. Your optometrist will also assess the performance of your current glasses or contact lenses, based on your lifestyle.

If desired or if the optometrist deems it necessary, the examination may also include a tomography.

Tomography : detecting and limiting the progression of eye diseases

This device produces a “scan” of the retina. The image obtained provides a very clear view of important structures such as the optic nerve and macula, and facilitates early diagnosis. This early diagnosis makes it possible to limit the progression of the disease in order to maintain functional vision for as long as possible.

Meibography : detecting the dysfunction of the glands responsible for dry eye

Meibography is the only technique which enables us to establish with great precision the presence of atrophy or obstruction of the meibomian glands. Meibomian gland dysfunction is responsible for 85% of dry eye syndrome cases. The glands can be treated with LipiFlow if they are not too atrophied.

Optimal vision and visual comfort

All of these elements allow your optometrist to make a diagnosis, initiate or adjust your prescription, and make the appropriate recommendations to ensure optimal vision and visual comfort.

If your optometrist sees a problem with the results of either of these tests, he will ensure that your condition is taken care of quickly.

Make sure you have optimal vision and comfort
