Besides performing complete eye examinations, our optometrists have the necessary expertise and  technologies to detect eye diseases 5 to 10 years earlier than any other technologies currently used. Eye Am offers you in one location the eye examination and early detection of ocular diseases such as glaucoma,  macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome.

Examination and Treatment Descriptions

An eye examination includes the case history, a picture of the eye fundus (or retina), an intraocular pressure measurement, an examination of the visual fields, a meibography, an examination of the color vision, the visual acuity, a refraction, an examination of binocular vision, and a general eye health examination. Your optometrist will also evaluate the optical performance of your glasses or contact lenses, with your lifestyle in mind.

If desired or if the optometrist deems it necessary, the examination may also include a tomography.

Tomography

This device produces a “scan” of the retina. The image obtained provides a very clear view of important structures such as the optic nerve and macula, and facilitates early diagnosis. This early diagnosis makes it possible to limit the progression of the disease in order to maintain functional vision for as long as possible.

Meibography

Meibography is the only technique which enables us to establish with great precision the presence of atrophy or obstruction of the meibomian glands. Meibomian gland dysfunction is responsible for 85% of dry eye syndrome cases. The glands can be treated with LipiFlow if they are not too atrophied.

Eye Am - La meibographie

These combined elements allow your optometrist to make a diagnosis, write or adjust your prescription, as well as give appropriate recommendations to insure you enjoy optimal vision and visual comfort. If your optometrist sees a problem with the results of either of these tests, he will ensure prompt referral to an ophthalmologist or direct you to our dry eye clinic.
